The study aims to understand the need for alternative care delivery, assess attitudes towards virtual hospitals, and identify gaps and opportunities for interventions in virtual ward programs.

The HaH model appears to offer a win-win solution, preventing hospital overcrowding, reducing costs through shorter hospital stays, and promoting better patient recovery in the comfort of their homes. Despite these advantages, the adoption of HaH models has been slow and sometimes met with reluctance. This study seeks to shed light on this phenomenon by conducting interviews with key figures within the Israeli hospital-at-home system and creating a SWOT analysis of HaH vs traditional hospitals.

The galvanising impact of the pandemic on developing new forms of acute medical care for people outside hospital was much in evidence at the recent World Hospital At Home Congress which attracted 670 participants from 34 different countries. The participants were mostly doctors and nurses in the vanguard of running Hospital at Home (HaH) programmes.

The third edition of the one-of-its-kind World Hospital at Home Congress – WHAHC was a resounding success that took place from March 30th to April 1st 2023, attracting 671 delegates – 620 in-person and 51 online – from 34 different countries in eight different regions of the world: Western Europe, East Asia and Pacific, North America, Middle East, Central and South America, Eastern Europe, Africa and Atlantic, and Central Asia (by number of attendees in descending order).
